REMINDER:  PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR APPROVAL.  A CONFIRMATION LETTER WILL BE SENT TO YOU UPON APPROVAL OF YOUR APPLICATION.  Participants must apply individually.  Class registration will be limited to 50 students or until September 1st, so register early!  A confirmation letter will be sent for each student who meets the eligibility for acceptance.  Due to the expenses associated with presenting this program there will be no refunds after September 1, 2016.

North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs Training Manager Program

The North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs Training Manager course is designed for those individuals who have leadership, management, and supervisory responsibility for the organization’s training. This course will cover legal issues, hiring personnel, managing personnel, budgeting, facility management, facility maintenance, program planning, delivery, and evaluation. Also, the coordination and scheduling of training is paramount in order to maximize budget and economy of training and will also be discussed in detail.

Due to the nature and topical areas, the following prerequisites and recommended levels of certification are recommended.

Prerequisites:

NFPA 1041 Instructor II

NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II

Recommended:

NFPA 1041 Instructor III

NFPA 1021 Fire Officer III

This course has been reviewed by the Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) and will satisfy several of the competencies of the Chief Training Officer Designation. After successful completion of your IFSAC Instructor III, this course, along with your completed Chief Training Officer application to the CPC and a successful peer review you may be eligible to receive your designation.

The 2016 Training Management Program will be held at the Charlotte Fire/Police Training Academy. The week long course will be presented October 17-21, 2016. Sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs, this course is being held in conjunction with the Central Piedmont Community College, Office of State Fire Marshal and the Charlotte Fire Department. Special thanks to the Training Management Program Advisory Committee.

This program will offer training and information critical to today's fire training officer and targets those individuals who have leadership, management, and supervisory responsibility for the organization’s training function. The training function typically includes responsibilities for obtaining and managing personnel, fiscal and facility management, program planning, and delivery. These persons also coordinate a training schedule and manage training records. They also are responsible for recruiting and evaluating instructors and evaluating training impact.

Topics addressed in the program are:

  • Program Evaluation, 
  • Financial Management, 
  • Legal Issues and Risk Management, 
  • Personnel Management, 
  • Training Facility Design, 
  • Maintenance and Planning, 
  • Alternative Learning, 
  • External Relations, and 
  • Strategic Leadership in Training

Program faculty will consist of instructors from across the State that have a focus on Fire Service Training and Fire Service Training Management, local government and private sector, and will offer the most up-to-date information and strategies to help the fire training officer meet his/her daily responsibilities.

Classes will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 and end at noon on Friday, October 21, 2016. Tuesday-Thursday classes will be held daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A complete schedule of classes and instructors will be provided to approved attendees.

Program registration fee is $250.00 per person which includes class materials, lunch Tuesday-Thursday, and one evening meal on Monday. The course is open to all fire officers having training officer responsibilities.

The local fire chief will verify a student's eligibility to participate, and the Program Advisory Committee will confirm the student's enrollment. A confirmation letter of acceptance will be sent to each participant prior to class and will contain specific details related to the program. Remember!! Class size will be limited to 50 students; therefore, please register early.

Special lodging is available at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 4800 South Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28217 at a cost of $129.00 plus tax per night. Individuals are responsible for their own reservations by calling  (704)-527-8400. Advise the agent that you are with the “North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs Training Management Program” and ask for Special Rate Plan October 17-21, 2016 to receive the $129.00 rate. The Cut-Off date for reservations is September 9, 2016. Full breakfast buffet is provided for each registered guest of the hotel.
