Full-Time Firefighter Position
The Glenwood community with an approximate population of 4000 is seeking qualified applicants for the position of firefighter at the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department. This is a Monday through Friday 9 hour per day shift position and is subject to emergency callback. Applicants must meet the following qualifications: NC certified firefighter, current NC Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Operations level Certification, Incident Command level 100, 200, 700, and 800 Certification, Wild-land Fire Suppression, NC Driver operator Introduction, and basic pumps, basic rescue training to include extrication. A valid NC Class B Driver’s License is required. Candidates should have at least 3 years’ experience with a progressive fire department, with experience in medical response and rescue training. Candidates not already possessing these certifications will be required to obtain NC Technical Rescuer within two years from date of hire. Candidates must provide medical clearance from a physician, complete a physical agility course and a written firefighter exam. Successful candidates will work with volunteer firefighters and report directly to the Chief and must exhibit professional attitude, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in extreme conditions. The starting salary range is 26,000.00 to 28,000.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
