    The Northern Wake Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter.

    Application Deadline: September 13, 2019 @ 5:00pm

    Two different work schedules are available, rotating 24-Hour Shifts and 12-

    Hour Daytime Shifts. Work schedule assignments are subject to departmental staffing needs as identified by the Fire Chief.

    Educational Requirements: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Associates or Bachelors’ degree preferred.

    Experience Requirements: Experience in a volunteer or combination fire department preferred.

    Job Description: Firefighter

    The position of Firefighter requires the employee to perform a myriad of different tasks. This role encompasses the many responsibilities required on an emergency scene, as well as the daily tasks of maintaining a fire station and the affiliated apparatus and equipment. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: emergency and non-emergency response to Fire, EMS, Rescue, and other requests for service; facilities and equipment maintenance; pre-incident planning; community risk reduction; district information maintenance; and other duties as specified by the Fire Chief and/or Immediate Supervisor.

    Tentative Employment Start Date: September 30, 2019

    Base Compensation: $38,540 Plus Overtime and Holiday Pay

    Northern Wake Fire Department Employment Requirements:

    • Firefighter Level I and II (NFPA 1001)(IFSAC, ProBoard, DOD)
    • Hazardous Materials Responder Level 1 (NFPA 472 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120)(IFSAC, ProBoard, DOD)
    • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 (meeting objectives of NFPA 1561)
    • NC EMT
    • Blood-borne Pathogens Training (meeting objectives of NFPA 1581 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030)
    • NC Classified “B” or CDL “B” license within 6-months of employment
