EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Town of Boone Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fire Driver/Operator.  This employee performs intermediate protective service work in driving fire apparatus, the operation of pumps and fire suppression and fire prevention inspections; does related work as required.  Work is often performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard.  Work is performed under regular supervision.  Supervision may be exercised over volunteer firefighters in the absence of a senior officer.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable firefighting experience.

Special Requirements; Possession of a Class B driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.  Possession of Level II Firefighter, Driver Operator Pumps, Level I Fire Inspector and EMT certificates.  All certifications shall be recognized by the State of North Carolina.  Must meet and maintain all department and state training and certification requirements for position.  Applicants shall reside in one of the following counties: Watauga, Avery, Ashe, Caldwell, Wilkes or Johnson County, TN.

Special Note:  All offers of employment are subject to successful completion of a controlled substance screening as well as a medical examination and extensive background check.

Salary:  $48,646.  Employee will serve a six-month probation.  TOB is and EOE.
