The Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing the overall emergency management coordination efforts for the Town and to coordinate with mutual aid partners and related emergency preparedness agencies. This is accomplished by providing leadership in preparedness plans; fostering relationships with local mutual aid jurisdictions; developing and providing instruction to various groups and Town staff; attending meetings to determine direction for the Town's emergency preparedness; assisting various Town departments in emergency preparedness; overseeing training and curriculum; overseeing inventory, documentation and deployment activities; monitoring special project’s budget; participating in national training classes, courses and conferences; and overseeing the preparation and needs of the Emergency Operations Center for the Town.
Other duties include internal emergency preparedness and training for all town staff and buildings related to potential emergencies such as fire, storm, active shooter, etc.; emergency planning for all town events/festivals; maintain/manage town’s Emergency Operation Plan (EOP); maintain/manage town’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and any other emergency planning documents.
Works under the general guidance and direction of the fire chief.
