    Accepting applications for full-time Firefighter / EMT:   The Riceville Volunteer Fire Department is a community focused Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) organization serving residents in and around eastern Buncombe County, NC.  RVFD provides fire suppression, emergency medical response, and rescue services, working closely with several local, state, and federal agencies to protect life and property. Team members are committed to rapid response, professional service, and strong community engagement.     Role Description: the Full-Time Firefighter Emergency Medical Technician will perform   fire suppression, emergency medical care, rescue operations, and related public safety duties in an on-site role based in Eastern Buncombe County, NC. Daily responsibilities include responding to emergency calls, providing patient assessment and basic life support, operating firefighting equipment, and participating in fire prevention and public education activities while working under the direct supervision of an assigned Shift Supervisor. This role involves inspecting and maintaining vehicles, tools, and medical equipment, as well as completing incident reports and other related documentation. The Firefighter EMT will attend training sessions, drills, and continue education to maintain certifications and readiness. This is a full-time position that requires working an assigned shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled with the Modified LA shift calendar.  OT is paid after 40 hours of work each week, with bi-weekly pay periods.

    Your Qualifications:

    ü  Candidate should possess skills in emergency medical care, including patient assessment, and basic life support

    ü  Candidates should possess skills in firefighting operations, such as fire suppression, rescue techniques, equipment operation, and incident scene safety.

    ü  Candidate should possess skills in communication, including clear verbal reporting, written documentation, and effective interaction with diverse community members.

    ü  Candidates should possess skills in teamwork and collaboration, including working effectively within a fire/EMS crew and coordinating with other agencies.

    ü  Candidates should possess skills in physical fitness and endurance to perform strenuous tasks, operate heavy equipment, and work in challenging environments.

    ü  Relevant qualifications include current NCOEMS EMT certification, fire academy and / or firefighter certification, valid NC driver’s license, and a clean driving record.

    ü  Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in emergency services, completion of current Buncombe County EMS protocols with up-to-date CE, ability to use incident management systems (NIMS), and commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
