City of Whiteville Fire Department – Firefighter

Grade: 16

Salary Range:  $28,934 – 43,401

The City of Whiteville is currently seeking to fulfill a FULL TIME position in the Fire department for a Firefighter.  This employee performs firefighting duties and conduct fire inspections; also performs related duties to suppression and prevention of fires; rescue victims, medical emergencies, operates and maintains all department equipment and station facilities; participates in ongoing training programs and does related work as required. Much of this work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard.  Position requires considerable physical activity.  Applicant MUST possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, Class B.  Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.  Preferred or be able to Obtain:  NC Firefighter Certification or some experience as a Firefighter; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  A Successful completion of an Assessment Center consisting of a physical agility test, practical skills assessment and interview will be required for selected candidates.
