Job Vacancy - City of Albemarle
The City of Albemarle is accepting applications for: Firefighter I . Performs responsible protective service work in fire suppression and emergency care in the municipal Fire Department. Starting salary is $30,657.00 annually. Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, October 30, 2015. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Age 18.
2. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
3. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid N.C. Driver's License.
4. May reside within Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.
5. After receiving a conditional job offer, the successful applicant must pass a substance abuse test.
Special conditions or requirements as part of final selection process:
1. Pass job related physical stamina and dexterity tests administered by the fire department.
2. Undergo background investigation.
3. Undergo oral interview by staff officers.
4. Undergo a written exam. The exam consists of human relations, mechanical reasoning, reading and math components.
5. The chosen applicant will be offered the job contingent upon passing an
NFPA 1582 compliant physical examination, which includes substance abuse testing.
6. Must successfully complete NC Firefighter I certification and NC Emergency Medical Technician certification before end of probation.
