HOPE MILLS FIRE DEPARTMENT
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Town of Hope Mills is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill full time and part time firefighter positions.
Initial Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct maintenance on fire department apparatus, equipment and facilities
- Attend and participate in a variety of fire department training and events
- Participates in the department’s physical fitness program
- Obtain and/or maintain required certifications
- Respond to and operate at a variety of emergency incidents
- Perform fire suppression and other fire ground duties
- Perform emergency medical care
- Perform rescue duties to include Vehicle Extrication and other Technical Rescue Operations
- Perform Hazardous Materials mitigation duties at the Operations Level
- Perform Driver/Operator duties for Pumpers, Aerials and other department vehicles
- Conduct and participate in Fire Prevention activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent
- Must be at least 18-years of age
- Possess current NC certification as a Firefighter II
- Possess current NC certification as an Emergency Medical Technician
- Possess current NC certification as a Hazardous Materials Operations Level Responder
- Possess FEMA certifications in NIMS 100,200,700 & 800
- Possess an appropriate NC Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Able to exercise knowledge gained through training and experience; apply good judgment during emergency situations; able to deal courteously, tactfully and firmly with the general public and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and agencies
Special Pre & Post-Employment Requirements
- Successfully pass Criminal Background and Driver’s License check
- Successfully pass pre-employment Drug Screening
- Successfully pass pre-employment Firefighter’s Written Exam and Physical Agility Test
Salary
Full Time: $34,685.00 Annually + Benefits
Part Time: $10.50 Hourly
A completed Town of Hope Mills application must be submitted to the Hope Mills Town Hall no later than 5:00 pm Friday, March 3, 2017. Only applicants meeting the minimum criteria will be considered. EOE.
