The City of Albemarle is now accepting applications for:

Fire Marshal.  Performs technical public safety work enforcing fire codes and performing fire inspections; conducts fire education programs and promotes overall fire prevention efforts within the City. Salary range is $45,748 – $70,910 annually, offer dependent upon education and experience. Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, March 17, 2017.

Required Qualifications:

1. Been employed full time for a minimum of seven consecutive years by a municipal fire or inspection department
2. N.C. Code Qualifications Board Certified - Fire Inspector Level III
3. N.C. Fire & Rescue Commission Certified - Fire/Arson Investigator or Equivalent
4. Valid N.C. Driver’s License
5. Graduation from a community college with a degree in  fire science supplemented by courses in fire inspection and prevention and considerable experience in the fire service and/or fire inspections; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
6. Undergo background investigation.
7. May reside in Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. N.C. Fire & Rescue Commission Certified – Firefighter II
2. N.C. Fire & Rescue Commission Certified - Fire Officer I
3. N.C. Fire & Rescue Commission Certified - Fire Instructor II
4. N.C. Fire & Rescue Commission Certified - Fire & Life Safety Educator
5. N.C. OEMS or National Registry Certified Emergency Medical Technician

Special Job Qualification Requirement:

The chosen applicant will be offered the job contingent upon passing a substance abuse test and successful completion of department provided NFPA 1582 compliant physical examination.
