DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under administrative direction, the Deputy Fire Chief provides overall leadership and will direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of the Fire Department including fire suppression, fire prevention, code enforcement, emergency medical services, and related services and activities; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible administrative support to the Fire Chief.
Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Major course work should be in fire science, fire administration, business or public administration, or a related field.
Experience
Fifteen years of broad and extensive experience in all major phases of professional fire fighting including five years of administrative and supervisory experience at a supervisory level of Battalion Chief and/or Fire Captain.
Required Certifications
Fire Officer II certification or above. (IFSAC)
Firefighter II Certification. (IFSAC)
Haz-Mat Operations
Emergency Vehicle Driver Certification
Emergency Medical Technician
NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800
Valid driver’s license.
Candidate must successfully complete a medical, psychological, and physical evaluation prior to employment
