Fire Department – Fire Lieutenant

Salary Range:  $33,495 - $49,489

The City of Whiteville is currently seeking to fulfill a FULL TIME position in the Fire department for a Fire Lieutenant.  This employee serves as the Officer on Duty in the absence of the Fire Captain, performs firefighting and fire equipment operational duties, conducts suppression and prevention of fires, rescue victims, medical emergencies, operates and maintains all department equipment and station facilities, participates in ongoing training programs, and works under close supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Much of this work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard.  Position requires considerable physical activity.  Applicant MUST possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, Class B.  Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.  Preferred or be able to Obtain:  NC Firefighter Level II Certification; NC Fire Officer I or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  A Successful completion of an Assessment Center consisting of a physical agility test, practical skills assessment, and interview will be required for selected candidates.
