The Town of Knightdale, NC (pop. 17,423), seeks a forward-thinking, experienced professional to lead the Fire Department.  A suburb of Raleigh, Knightdale continues to see explosive growth and consistently ranks highly among the safest, most affordable, fastest growing, and best places to live in North Carolina. 

Knightdale’s Fire Chief will administer all operations of the Fire Department and will be responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, coordinating, directing, and budgeting of all functions, policies, and procedures of the Department.  The Fire Chief will ensure protection of the lives and property of citizens from loss due to fire or related hazards and will coordinate operations of the Department with other Town departments, other fire departments, and other agencies. 

The successful candidate will possess a great deal of experience of an increasingly responsible nature in the fire service; specifically this position requires at least ten years of firefighting experience, including five years as a company officer or above.  Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree or better in Fire Science or related field. 

Salary range:  $95,113 – $141,610 annually, depending on qualifications and experience, with competitive benefits.  This position is classified as exempt under the Executive Exemption and is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations.
