Job Summary:
General Description of Duties:
Responsible for maintaining and operating Fire Fighting equipment, directing volunteers
And performing general Fire Fighting duties.
• Receives and responds to fire alarms
• Provides first aid or Fire Responder services to the public
• Trains volunteers in Fire Fighting and equipment operation activities
• Serves as Incident Commander when needed; supervises volunteers
• Prepares and drives the fire vehicle to fire scene, fights fires, prepares fire lines
And equipment for use by other Firefighters.
• Participates in post fire operations of cleaning and salvage
• Performs routine maintenance and servicing of fire trucks and equipment
• Assists in field training of personnel in fire related duties; serves as specialized
Fire Instructor
• Completed related fire and equipment and training records as required
• Participates in public relations activities such as tours, classes, and open house
• Maintains training hours as required by department policy
• Performs related duties as required
Minimal Certifications:
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED
• NFPA 1403 Certification
• NC Driver Operator Basic Pumps
Preferred Additional Certifications:
• Certification at Firefighter Level 2
• Other certifications required are Emergency Vehicle Driver, Driver Operator pumps, Driver Operator Aerials
