Full Time Firefighter II/EMT-B

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

• ·       Knowledge of incident response including response to hazardous materials spills, ocean and general rescue techniques, and emergency medical service calls.
• ·       Knowledge of the hazards of firefighting and appropriate safety precautions.
• ·       Some knowledge of the application of information technology to the work of the department.
• ·       Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, officials, and members of the public.
• ·       Ability to prepare records of work activities.
• ·       Ability to operate or learn to operate all required equipment and apparatus.

Physical Requirements

• ·       Must be able to physically perform the basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing.
• ·       Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• ·       Must possess visual acuity to size up the color, volume, and extent of fire involvement at fire scenes, to operate heavy fire apparatus in emergency situations, and to prepare records and reports.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must have H.S. Diploma or GED
• NC FF I & II Certification
• NC EMT Certification
• Successfully Complete a Background & driving History check

Preferred Qualifications

• ·       NC EVD Certification                                                                                 
• ·       Class B NC Driver’s License                                                                      
• ·       NIMS 700 & 800 Certifications

 Starting Full Time Salary: Base Pay $ 34,590 with Benefit Package
