We have been doing this for about 10 years now. We use the door hanger option so it is easy to install and remove without any damage. We loan the boxes to disabled persons that are financially not able to purchase one. We don't check their financials. We just take their word for it and plus we are a small community and usually someone in the fire department knows the person anyway. I have them all marked as property of the fire department and labeled "please return to the fire department when no longer needed". We have not used any forms yet and the honor system seems to be working good. I do keep up with each box in our inventory system with the address of where it is installed.

We at Leland Fire will be receiving ten residential Knox boxes intending to have a loaner program for elderly citizens that live alone. We were looking to see if any other departments may have a similar program already in place. If so, would you be willing to share your procedures, criteria, or any forms that you may have?

    Thanks
