    Chief Cole,

New Hanover County Fire Rescue will be participating in the Safety and Health Week to cover the following items in our Monthly Training Objectives. In January of 2015, we pushed out a department wide initiative in line with the Fire Fighters Cancer Support Network Program, bringing awareness and preventive measures to the exposure of our fire fighters to the causes of cancer. During the month of June, our efforts will focus on reviewing Taking Action Against Cancer and specialized training on PPE Contamination. We will also include The Safety and Health Week quiz that reinforces the messages behind this year’s theme, “Creating a Culture of Safety”.  It is located at www.nfpa.org/fireservicequiz. There is also a Webinar Series from Masimo, three that cover the Rehab Standard in NFPA 1584 and two dealing with Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
