    Chris,

Talk to Scott and see if he can provide any different insight.  As you know, inspectors have to be certified through the NC Code Qualifications Board and this is governed by General Statutes which right now does specify only local government employees can do inspections.  There have been some exceptions in years past but with the changes coming in the codes and regs it may not be something that can occur without someone being certified and part of town organization.

Looking for some info for Depts who have a contract with your Town to do Fire Inspections.  My Dept is a 501C3 non profit with a contract for service with the Town. The Code Enforcement Official in Town has been trying to get the FD to take over Issuing of Burn Permits and Doing Inspections. He is having resistance from the Town Manager. Manager keeps saying the FD is not part of the Town Government and the FD cannot do any of those services in town. Ive been told we could have a contract amendment to allow us to do this if the Town agrees. Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks
