    Tommy,

We have it setup in our alarm model through dispatch, so once arriving on scene 2nd alarm automatically fills our station, 3rd alarm moves the 2nd alarm crews to the scene and fills the stations again, and so on.

The issue of how to handle move-ups and/or fill-ins is becoming more and more a reoccurring topic in Guilford County. While Guilford County is not unique we do recognize that our county has a wide-range of department types from all-volunteer, single station combination departments, multi-station combination departments, and 2 large all-career departments. We are looking for ways to develop a model in which the 911 center can handle move-ups and/or fill-ins when a benchmark is hit such as a working incident or 2nd alarm. Currently, we have departments that want to handle their own fill-ins, some that want GM911 to determine who goes, and others that quite frankly never consider it or think about it.

If you have any thoughts on this or know of a system that we could look at I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Tommy Cole, Asst. Fire Chief
