My name is Allen Wilson and I serve as the fire chief for the Town of Surf City.  I am currently enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy.  I am conducting research on unmanned aerial systems also known as drones.  The Surf City Fire Department has been using drones for some time for various emergency and nonemergency operations.  Most recently, the department has been gaining notoriety in the area for drone use and have been fielding request for additional operations and deployment.  This has created a challenge as the department does not have a written program or SOG in place for these activities, which has guided this research topic.

I have designed a survey to address various ideas and concerns to assist me in identifying the components of UAS program for the fire department.  I am hopeful you can spare a few minutes to complete the survey.  The end result of this research is to develop a list of core program components for the SCFD and other departments wishing to develop their own UAS programs.  Please utilize the link below or copy and paste it into your browser to complete the survey.
