    Dear Mr. Nance:

Thank you for your recent message and for your ongoing efforts to support victims of fire-related injuries in our state.  The needs of these victims and the Burn Center are certainly near and dear to our hearts as well.  In the future, if you have an event you would like to promote or a specific need, please contact our Executive Director, Jake Whisnant, who will determine the best communication channel to use (we have several) to get these messages to our members.  He may be reached by email at jwhisnant@ncafc.com or by phone at (980) 522-6129.

In regard to the former Yahoo Group, the association made the decision to end the use this communication tool for several reasons, based both on feedback from users and for compliance purposes:

    • To protect the identities and computer systems of our members and access to their information.  Yahoo has had several data breaches and we want to avoid any communication channel that may jeopardize our members’ information or systems.
    • To prevent our members from being overrun with spam or vendor solicitations.  Since the original group started was not for members only, chiefs were receiving all kinds of messages that were overrunning their inbox that they did not want or had time to read.
    • To provide compliant opt-in options for our members to choose the types of communications they would like to receive and/or participate in (now legally required; not as regulated in the earlier days of the Yahoo Group).  Today we have many more ways for members to stay connect online with the NCAFC, and they want a choice of how to do so:  Email, Facebook, Twitter, Talk Group, Text Messages and more.

Thank again for your ongoing support of the NCAFC and if we may be of service, please feel free to contact us at any time.

We are glad to be a consistant participant in the Camp Celebrate parade.  Thank you for all the work you do to coordinate such an important activity.  I review your correspondence utilizing whatever platform you decide to use. Warrenton Rural VFD, Warren County

Good afternoon some may remember back in the day of when we had the yahoo group where a person could post a question such as Needs for the Burn Center, Needs for a burned child in some area, needs for Camp Celebrate in this group now it seems that no one reads the post after scanning thru the post. I deleted the post I added for camp due to no responses. I have fire chiefs right now mad and upset cause they knew nothing of Camp Celebrate this year or the fire truck parade and have not been invited for a couple of years due to the absence of the yahoo group. So what say yeh fellow chiefs would you like to return the yahoo email group so that you can find things out or do you like it like it is currently and not knowing. . You chiefs that have been voicing to me about not being advised of the camp, burn center needs and such here is your time to voice your thoughts right here.
