We have been very satisfied with ceramic tile with a splash plate border in our hallways, kitchen, bathrooms, utility and communications room.  Makes maintenance so effortless; just a good mopping.  We used carpet in the meeting room, day room, offices, conference room and dorm areas.  With heavy use in the meeting room, we have to clean it about 3 times per year.  We built in 2006 and still in great condition.  Here is a link to our project:  https://www.bobbitt.com/project/fire-rescue/warrenton-rural-volunteer-fire-department/
