Thank you for the quick response. I’m sorry to hear that you have a full officers meeting that week; however, if you’d be interested in our early December one (~1st-8th), please let me know.
Otherwise, I’d greatly appreciate it if you would forward this to any female chief officers (or any female officers you may know at the Battalion Chief level or higher) in any state, except for Florida. (Our contract with the City of Miami precludes having any assessors at all from the state of Florida.)

Dear Fire Chief:
EB Jacobs’ (now a PSI Services LLC company) primary expertise is in the development and administration of selection and promotional exams for public safety positions. We are currently working with the City of Miami, Florida, on their Fire-Rescue Chief Fire Officer examination. This examination will involve the use of an assessment center.
I am writing to request your assistance in recommending individuals at the level of Battalion Chief or one rank higher who you feel have the abilities required to work as assessment center assessors/evaluators and/or have had experience conducting assessment center or oral board evaluations. We are hoping to get one or two qualified assessors from your department for our upcoming assessments. By qualified, we typically mean someone that has been in the rank of Battalion Chief for at least one year and has a good performance record; previous assessment experience is not necessary although it is desirable. EB Jacobs/PSI will train all assessors on site. Please see the table below for the total number of assessors we are seeking.

We are recruiting 11 assessors at the level of Battalion Chief or one rank higher to participate in the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Chief Fire Officer Oral Board Assessment. The assessors will need to arrive Monday, October 22, by early evening, participate in training Tuesday, October 23, and until noon on Wednesday, October 24, and then assess candidates on Thursday, October 24, and possibly Friday morning, October 26. Return travel would occur after 2 p.m. on Friday, October 26.
We are recruiting two assessors at the level of Battalion Chief or one rank higher to participate in the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Chief Fire Officer Written In-Basket Assessment. These assessors will need to arrive Monday, October 22, by early evening, participate in training Tuesday, October 23, and Wednesday, October 24 (for only 60-90 minutes), and then assess candidates on Wednesday afternoon, October 24, through noon on Friday, October 26. Return travel would occur after 2 p.m. on Friday, October 26.
As far as compensation, the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue typically works on an exchange or reciprocal basis. Thus, at a later date your department could contact the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue to request assessors for testing at your agency. In terms of expenses, EB Jacobs/PSI would make all necessary travel and hotel reservations and will pay for these expenses. We will also provide a per diem to cover meals and other expenses.
Those interested should complete the Assessor Information Form that is attached to this letter and return it to me at pcorbett@psionline.com or by faxing it to (814) 237-4886. This information sheet will give us the information necessary to create assessment panels based on the demographics requested by the client. We are required to have Black, Hispanic and female representation on each panel. We fill the panels using those that respond first that meet the rank and length in rank criteria but that also fit into the panels to meet the requested demographics. Once we have the panels filled, we will e-mail a letter of confirmation to those that were selected.
