We have recently issued ballistic vests and helmets to each position on the apparatus, our safety officers, and our battalion chiefs. Our policy is written for response to active shooters as well as all violent incident response for when to wear them. We choose the NIJ IIIA as it stops all hand gun rounds but still has the capability to put plates in if needed.
