    We have had success using the "Step one Survey" that Chief Grayson mentioned.  We also use "EmployTest," which offers a series of testing solutions to determine skills and abilities in technical areas as well as job fit.  They have a tests designed for certain jobs, such as firefighter.

    Chief, one simple electronic test that departments find beneficial is the "Step One Survey".   The candidate completes the test on line and it provides some insight to their personal integrity, substance abuse, reliability and work ethic.  It also will provide interview questions that are legally compliant to ask because it is generated from their responses.   It is a validated indicator instrument and is rather inexpensive.  Please contact me if you need more info or you are interested in using it.  Thanks and take care.

    What types of Pre-Employment aptitude testing is your organization currently doing? I am anticipating the hiring of 3 full time personnel in the very near future and want to ensure I am obtaining the best candidates possible.  I have experience with the T.A.B.E. testing and am curious what your organization currently uses.
