Are you worried about decreasing your level of service to your community? Are you expecting backlash?

I am afraid that small departments like ours may have to look at letting our day staff go as far to many of us do not have the tax base to cover such an increase and for some of us the 15.00 is actually the top out for some part time day staff in Rural FD USA.

How are small department Fire Chiefs planning to approach their councils, commissioners, aldermen, board of directors, etc., about phasing in pay increases to get to the proposed new minimum wage?

The 2017 pay study for less than 10,000 shows an average of $10.45. Which means that each part-time position increases by almost 44%.
